National Volunteer Week
This week is National Volunteer Week, a reminder of what it means to truly show up for your community. Calgary isn’t just where I live, it’s home. And giving back in a way that creates a real connection is something I deeply value. At Distress Centre Calgary, volunteers show up every day to listen, support, and be present for people in their hardest moments so no one has to face a crisis alone. In 2025, over 300 volunteers gave their time. That’s 300 people choosing connection, compassion, and community. Volunteering has taught me that presence matters more than having all the answers. It’s powerful, it’s human, and it stays with you. If you have the capacity to give back, I believe you should; it strengthens all of us. Volunteer Appreciation Week may be one week, but the impact is felt every day. I’m proud to be part of it.
